Your Ouarzazate desert tour begins with pickup from your hotel or riad at approximately 8:00 AM.
We leave Ouarzazate and head south through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, enjoying beautiful views of the changing landscape as we approach the Draa Valley.
Our first major stop is Tamnougalt, where you can explore the historic kasbah and traditional village. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the architecture and history of southern Morocco.
We then continue through the Draa Valley, one of Morocco's most spectacular oasis landscapes. The route follows the Draa River and passes extensive palm groves, agricultural areas and traditional villages.
We reach Zagora, where we stop for lunch before continuing south.
After lunch, we visit Tamgroute, a historic village renowned for its traditional pottery. Depending on opening times and local conditions, you may also visit its historic library and explore the old underground ksour.
The journey continues toward Tagounite and M’hamid, the last major settlement before the deeper Sahara.
Option 1: M’hamid / Erg Lihoudi
If you choose the M’hamid option, we continue to the Erg Lihoudi desert area, where your camel trek begins.
Ride your camel through the dunes while watching the sun slowly disappear over the Sahara.
After sunset, return to the desert camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner and an evening beneath the stars.
Option 2: Erg Chigaga
If you choose Erg Chigaga, the journey continues beyond M’hamid into the remote Sahara by 4x4.
The final section is an off-road adventure across desert landscapes before reaching the spectacular Erg Chigaga sand dunes.
Upon arrival, enjoy a sunset camel ride through the golden dunes before returning to camp for dinner.
Spend the night in a traditional Berber-style tented camp.
